In memoriam:
DUSAN VLAICIC
UMRO
"Sklonistu" i jos mnogim drugim mjestima "rezervisanim"
uglavnom za "gradsku raju"...
Nazalost, nedavno se tragicno zavrsila jedna tuzna zivotna prica zaljubljenika
u Vrbas, Banja Luku i svoju Bosnu i Hrecegovinu. Mi, njegovi prijatelji,
razasuti diljem svijeta, s iznenadjenjem i bolom u srcu primili smo
Evo Ridzalovog govora u cijelosti (na engleskom jeziku):
Dear
friends,
How to say final farewell to the friends, the friends you know for more
than 40 years? How to put the whole life into a few snapshots?
I will remember Dusko as a young, good-looking boy sitting in the same
high school class in our hometown Banja Luka in 1961.
I will remember him trying to become an artist drawing his first sketchs
visiting me during my college time.
I will remember him, an artist, trying to make his first money as a
postal worker in seventies.
I will remember Srebrenka, nice young lady and his arm on her shoulder
walking doen the street. A young couple starting new life together.
I will remember happy days when Matija was born
There is picture that will never fade-Dusko on the left hugging Srebrenka
holding Matija's hand and their dog Ara-happy family of four going almost
every day to the banks of the hometown river Vrbas.
I will remember Srebrenka as a young teacher and her friends meeting
each other on the same co! rner, the same time every day going to a
school to teach new young generations.
And then the Bosnian War started. Early nineties. Our hometown became
our enemy.
Saving our lives, Vlainic family became first Bosnian refugee family
in Indianapolis and my family went to Germany as many others.
I will remember lang letters from Indianapolis encouraging me and my
family to come here and try and start over. It was a rainy day in February
1997. Srebrenka with the W-------- waiting for us at the airport. That
night we shared their apartment happy together wondering how to start
next day. The next day came and passed as many days after. Both families
struggling with new life, new culture, but making progress.
I will remember Dusko and Srebrenka helping new refugees coming into
the town, open heart and supporting every single day.
And suddenly, the tragedy. There are no words to describe tragedy I
have seen in their eyes-Matija the only child died.
And now the final! tragedy.
My dearest friends, thank you for all moments we shared.< BR>Good-bye,
my friends, don't worry, we will be lonesome for a while but I know
you will be waiting for us on the banks of the river Vrbas.
Good-bye, my friends. Rest in peace.
